Org Chart
Visualize, build, and manage your organization's reporting lines and managerial hierarchy.
The Org Chart provides a dynamic, interactive canvas to visualize and manage the reporting lines across your organization. By defining who reports to whom, you establish clear managerial hierarchies, which is essential for aligning teams, configuring approval workflows, and allowing managers to track their direct reports' learning progress.
To access this feature, navigate to People > Org Chart in the Admin Portal sidebar.
1. Visualizing the Hierarchy
The central focus of the page is the interactive canvas. Here, your organization's structure is laid out visually, with each card representing a user (displaying their avatar, name, and job title). The lines connecting these cards indicate direct manager-to-employee relationships.

Navigating a large organization is easy using the built-in canvas tools:
- Zoom and Pan: Use your mouse to click and drag across the canvas, or use the +/- controls in the bottom-left corner to zoom in and out.
- Mini-Map: The mini-map in the bottom-right corner gives you a bird's-eye view of your entire organization, allowing you to quickly jump to different branches.
- Refresh Layout: If the canvas becomes cluttered while making changes, simply click the Refresh layout button to instantly re-align and neaten the reporting tree.
2. Building the Chart Visually
You can construct your entire company hierarchy directly from this page. On the right-hand side of the screen, you will find the UNASSIGNED sidebar, which lists all users in your tenant who do not currently have a designated manager.
To build reporting lines visually:
- Search or browse for a specific employee in the Unassigned sidebar.
- Drag and drop the user onto the canvas and connect them to the card of their designated manager.
- The hierarchy will update instantly, placing the employee as a direct report under that manager.
Tip: You can use the Export button in the top right corner to download a copy of your current organizational structure for offline use or internal presentations.
3. Alternative: Assignment via User Profiles
While the Org Chart provides an excellent visual builder, it is not the only way to establish reporting lines. You can also assign managers individually from a user's settings.
If you are managing a single employee's account:
- Navigate to People > Users and click on the specific user.
- Go to the Manager section within their profile details.
- Select their manager from the dropdown list.
Any changes made directly on a user's profile will automatically reflect on the visual Org Chart canvas, ensuring your reporting data is always perfectly synchronized across the platform.
