Learning Paths

Build structured learning journeys by grouping courses into paths.

Sometimes, a single course isn't enough to cover a complex topic. Learning Paths allow you to group multiple courses into a structured, sequential learning journey. This feature is perfect for creating comprehensive New Hire Onboarding tracks, Leadership Development programs, or progressive Certification curricula.

To manage your organization's curricula, navigate to Learning > Learning Paths in the Admin Portal sidebar.

1. The Learning Paths Dashboard

The main dashboard displays all of your active learning programs as distinct cards.

Learning Paths Dashboard

At a glance, you can see essential information for each path:

  • Name & Type: The title of the path and its color-coded classification badge (e.g., Leadership, Onboarding, Compliance).
  • Metrics: A quick count of how many courses are included and how many learners are actively enrolled.
  • Deadline: The relative timeframe learners have to complete the entire path once enrolled.

2. Creating a New Learning Path

To build a new curriculum, click the blue + New Learning Path button in the top right corner.

New Learning Path Modal

Fill out the foundational details:

  • Type: Select a visual tag to categorize the program.
  • Name & Description: Give the path a clear, identifiable title and a brief summary of its goals.
  • Deadline (days): Optional. Enter the number of days a learner has to complete all courses in the path from the moment they are enrolled (e.g., entering 30 means the user has one month to finish the track).

Click Create Learning Path to generate the shell of your new program.

3. Path Overview & Analytics

Clicking on any path card takes you to its detailed management page. The default Overview tab acts as your analytical dashboard for this specific program.

Learning Path Overview

Here, you can monitor big-picture engagement:

  • Top Metric Cards: Instantly view the total number of Courses, Active Learners, and Active Enrollments (since one learner taking four courses equals four enrollments).
  • Enrollment Status: A donut chart showing the overall health and progress distribution of the path.
  • Enrollments vs. Completions: A line graph tracking activity trends over the last 12 months.

4. Managing Course Content

The Courses tab is where you define the actual curriculum.

Learning Path Courses Tab

Here, you will see the sequence of courses learners must take. You can easily drag and drop courses using the grip icon on the left to reorder the learning journey.

Adding Courses to the Path

Click the + Add Course button to expand the curriculum.

Add Course Modal

A modal will appear with two tabs:

  1. Organization: Search and select custom courses built specifically by your internal team.
  2. TechClass: Search and attach premium, expert-built courses from the global TechClass Training Library.

Select your desired course and click + Add.

5. Tracking Learners & Enrollments

Managing people within a Learning Path is split across two distinct tabs to give you the exact level of detail you need: Learners and Enrollments.

The Learners Tab (High-Level)

The Learners tab shows you the overall progress of the employees assigned to this path. It provides a macro-view: e.g., "John Smith is 25% done with the path and has completed 1 out of 4 courses."

Learning Path Learners Tab

To assign a new employee to this curriculum, click the + Add Learner button, search for their name, and click Enroll.

Enroll Learner Modal

The Enrollments Tab (Granular)

If you need to dig deeper, the Enrollments tab breaks down the path into individual course records. Instead of seeing John Smith's overall path progress, you will see exactly which specific course within the path John is currently working on, and his granular progress within that specific module.

Learning Path Enrollments Tab

You can use the sub-tabs (Active, Completed, Cancelled) to filter this detailed ledger.

6. Path Settings

If you need to update the core details of your curriculum, navigate to the Settings tab.

Learning Path Settings Tab

  • Edit Details: You can rename the path, update the description, change the Type, or adjust the relative Deadline days. Click Save Changes to apply.
  • Danger Zone: If a curriculum is retired, you can permanently delete it here.

What happens when you delete a path?

Deleting a Learning Path does not delete the underlying courses, nor does it delete the users' historical completion records for those courses. It simply destroys the "container" grouping them together.
